Thyme Capsule ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our website and mobile app at thyme-capsule.com, app.thyme-capsule.com, and the Thyme Capsule iOS and Android apps.

1. Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly to us, including:

• Account information — your name and email address when you sign in with Google or Apple.
• Recipe and cookbook content — photos, transcribed recipe text, ingredients, notes, cookbook names, and the names and labels you assign to people and places in your cookbooks.
• Subscription information — your subscription tier and status. Payment card details are processed directly by Stripe and are never transmitted to or stored on our servers.

We also collect certain information automatically:

• Push notification tokens — a device token generated when you grant notification permission, used to deliver notifications to your device.
• Crash and diagnostic data — if the mobile app crashes, we collect a crash report including the error, stack trace, device model, operating system version, and app version. This data is collected via Firebase Crashlytics and is disabled in development builds.
• Infrastructure logs — our cloud infrastructure (Firebase/Google) processes your IP address as part of handling requests. We do not actively analyze or store IP addresses beyond what the infrastructure retains for security and reliability purposes.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide, operate, and improve the Thyme Capsule service
• Process and manage your subscription
• Send transactional notifications and emails (receipts, digitization completion, account activity)
• Diagnose and fix crashes and technical issues
• Respond to your support requests
• Detect and prevent fraud or abuse

We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We do not use your recipe content or photos to train AI models.

3. AI Processing

When you submit a recipe image for digitization, restoration, or dish photo generation, the image is transmitted to Google's Gemini AI service. The image is processed for the purpose of generating the requested output. Google's data processing agreements govern how Gemini handles submitted data; images are not used to train Google's models under our usage terms.

4. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored using Firebase (Google Cloud), hosted in the United States. We implement security measures including encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS), Firebase App Check to block unauthorized access, and authentication requirements. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

5. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate Thyme Capsule. Each receives only the data necessary for its function:

• Google / Firebase — authentication, database, file storage, cloud functions, push notifications, and crash reporting. Your data is stored on Firebase infrastructure.
• Google / Gemini AI — recipe image processing for digitization, restoration, and dish photo generation.
• Stripe — subscription billing. Stripe receives your email address when a subscription is created. Card details are entered directly into Stripe's payment interface and never reach our servers.

We may disclose your information if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our users.

6. Family Sharing

If you use family sharing features, other members of your family group can see the shared cookbooks and recipes within that group. You control which cookbooks are shared. Deleting your account as a family owner removes the entire family group and its shared content; deleting as a member removes only you.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your account and all associated data — you can do this directly in the app, or by emailing us
• Opt out of marketing communications at any time
• Request a copy of your personal information

8. Cookies and Local Storage

The web app uses cookies and browser local storage to keep you signed in and remember your preferences. You can configure your browser to refuse cookies, but sign-in and some features will not function correctly without them. The mobile app uses local storage on your device for the same purposes; no tracking cookies are used.

9. Children's Privacy

Thyme Capsule is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us immediately.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "last updated" date. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
